SORRENTO

Famous all over the world, for its remote past in the Blue Grotto, Capri preserves fascinating proofs of its remote past in the Greek Acropolis (IV - V cent. b.C.), the Tiberium Baths and Villa Jovis. From the port of Marina Grande, by funicular, you can reach the "piazzetta", set destination for the international cream of society, with the sophisticated shops in the little streets nearby. Also Marina Piccola is very charming as well as the Natural Arch and Anacapri, from where you can reach Mount Solaro by chair-lift, and finally the Villa Museum of S.Michele and the "Certosa di San Giacomo".

CAPRI

The most beautiful and famous place on the Sorrento peninsula and traditional resort with Meta,Piano and Sant'Agnello, Sorrento offers a limpid sea full pof colourful baus, big hotel plunged in the green of citrus plantations and a renowned typical handicraft. Very interesting are the Cathedral, the "Sedile Dominova" and the Correale museum of Terranova. Easily reachable by car by train or by hydrofoil, the town is also the seat of the International Meetings of Cinema.

POSITANO

Worth while a visit are the narrow streets, the long steps, the Chuch of S.Maria Assunta, of great value, and the marvellous Byzantine icon portraying the Virgin Mary and the Holy Child. See "La Porta" Grotto with its Paleolithic period findings, the little isles "Li Galli", famous for an ancient Roman villa, besides the home - museum where Rudolph Nuerejiev spent his last years. Sighting towers scattered along the coast and a wondrfull landscape offer the visitor one of the most beautiful places in the world.

AMALFI

Amalfi, originally Roman, was the first Sea Republic of Italy. After the fall of the Roman Empire, it was the first city to re-establish relationships between East and West by transporting and introducing into Italy exotic merchandise such as carpets, coffee and paper. Now Amalfi is a quiet and pictoresque seaside resort with a temperate climate and incomparable natural beauties. It has some of the holdest hotels in Italy as well as many modern ones.

THE LOCAL MARITIME VILLAGES

Marina Delta Lobra, Marina DI Puolo, Marina Grande, Marina Del Cantone, Crapolla are just some of the maritime villages, which make up the unique scenery of the SORRENTO Peninsula.

THE "PUNTA CAMPANELLA NATURE MARINE RESERVE"

The underwater world of the SORRENTO Peninsula comprises a unique patrimony of the word. The Italian Natural Trust finally recognized the incredible natural beauty of this area, and in 1 99 7 declared it a Natural Reserve area and so the "Punta Campanella" Marine Reserve was born. The Nature Reserve offers the visitor the possibility of incredible scenery, where the traditional fishing activities live in perfect harmony with its surroundings and in complete respect for the natural ambience.

THE ROMAN VILLAS

The Sorrentine Peninsula was inhabited and loved by the man from antiquity, the Greeks were so enchanted that they imagined that Sirens lived in these waters around the "Galli Islands". The Romans perpetuated the legend, by building wonderful villas in the most panoramic points of the coast, where it is still possible to visit the ruins today.

THE COASTAL TOWERS

After the terrible invasion of the Turks in 155 AD,many look-out coastal towers were erected.any of these are still intact today, and as one passes them by land or by sea they have a very imperiousand majestic air about them.

THE VERVECE

The Vervece is a small rock off Marina Della Lobra, protagonist of many legend.

THE SEAFOOD CUISINE

The sea food is refined and eclectic, all the more appreciated served in the surroundings of this special scenery.- Some of the most popular dishes are "Scialatielli ai Frutti di Mare, Tubettoni con Le Patelle, Spaghetti at Riccio di Mare, Totani con le Patate, Pezzogna all'acqua Pazza".
